General Facilities The Division of Forestry, which has excellent facilities, is located in Percival Hall on the Evansdale Campus close proximity to the Evansdale Library and Towers Residence Halls. Available physical spacing totals 40,412 square feet, of which 33,587 is lecture and seminar rooms, teaching and research laboratories.  The remaining portion is office space for faculty, graduate students, and staff. In addition, 8,500 acres of forested tracts, including the 7,800 acre University Forest, are located near the campus and are used extensively as outdoor laboratories. The Westvaco Natural Resources Center is located on the WVU Forest.

• Saw dust collection system: vacuum system to remove waste from each machine
• Saws are all manually adjusted and operated
• Raw materials and finished products are all manually transported
• Logs are manually loaded onto the carriage from the log deck
• Logs are sawn with bark on
• Fully Operational Industrial-Scale Lumber Scanning Equipment
• The lumber scanning equipment is housed in the same building as the sawmill.
• Used by the Wood Industries program and the Appalachian Hardwood Center in collaboration with Dr. Powsiri Klinkhachorn of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, WVU.
• Environmental Scanning Microscope (ESEM) at NIOSH on the Evansdale Campus
